Family meetings are a way of creating solidarity in a family. It is a way of building self-esteem – as long as the meetings are done in a non-judgemental way. Think of your family as a corporation with a democratic way of managing the firm. While the parents are the ones who are the CEOs, the children can still have a voice (within limits of course – so set them). This is a very educational way to help children grow and become mature, responsible adults.
